Both will be verified using authentication codes during the setup process.

Why do I need them?

Passwords and PINs are often forgotten or misplaced, with devastating consequences. Since email and phone are elements we normally keep with us long-term, it's more likely we will maintain access to them naturally without much effort over the years.

It also eliminates a single point of failure by relying on email or phone to access the account, meaning if you lose access to one, you can still access your crypto with a code to the other.
